Washington State Targets Celiac Sufferers With New Tax

June 1st, 2010 a new tax has gone into effect that specifically targets celiac sufferers. While dubbed a sin tax it specifically targets candy. By Washington state code candy doesn’t contain flour even if it is a food that the layman would consider candy.

I am extremely disappointed in the obvious outcome. Manufacturers will be forced to add flour to stay competitive. Either way I lose.

I didn’t believe a condition could be made taxable, but Washington state has gone and done it. I guess it is time to take my money elsewhere, but where?
